Shipping & Pre-Sale Schedule

Effective Date: March 17, 2026

This page explains when we ship Egyptian Walking Onion topsets, what “pre-sale” means, and what to expect after you place an order.

Orders Are Taken Year-Round

You may place an order at any time during the year. We accept purchases year-round.

However, topsets themselves are seasonal. That means ordering and shipping do not happen on the same timeline.

Shipping Season: September through December (While Supplies Last)

Our normal shipping season for Egyptian Walking Onion topsets is September through December, or until we sell out for the year. We ship as topsets are harvested, cured, counted, and prepared for travel.

Please see the Order Topsets page for current shipping status.

Orders are shipped in the order they are received whenever possible, within the limits of harvest timing and available supply.

Shipping season for Plant Catalog items is April - November. Plants usually ship 1–2 weeks after placing your order. Plants and cuttings are dug/cut fresh at the time of your order placement.

Pre-Sale Season: January through August (No Topset Shipping)

From January through August, topset orders are considered pre-sale. During the pre-sale months, you are reserving topsets ahead of harvest.

Please see the Order Topsets page for current pre-sale status.

Please note: topsets do not ship during the pre-sale season. Pre-sale orders will ship during the fall shipping season (September–December) when the topsets are harvested and ready to go. You will receive a shipping confirmation when your order goes out.

Shipping Method

All Egyptian Walking Onion topset orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. When your package goes out, you will receive a shipping confirmation. We are sorry, but we cannot ship to countries outside of the United States.

Shipping rates are based on flat-rate Priority Mail boxes and the number of orders being shipped:

We are happy to combine shipping whenever possible. If your order can be combined, you will receive a partial refund for shipping overpayment. Please let us know if you plan to order multiple items and you would like your shipping combined.

Address Accuracy

Please carefully verify your shipping address before completing your order. We ship exactly to the address provided at checkout.

We cannot be responsible for packages delivered to an incorrect or outdated address supplied by the customer. If an order is returned to us due to an addressing error, the buyer is responsible for any reshipping costs.

Weather and Shipping Safety

Because topsets and plants are living nursery stock, shipments may occasionally be delayed during periods of extreme heat, severe cold, or hazardous weather to help protect plant health while in transit.

When possible, we time shipments to avoid weather-related damage. This may shift shipping by a few days, but it greatly improves the likelihood that your plants arrive in good condition.

Wholesale

Wholesale pricing on large quantities is 25 cents per topset. Egyptian Walking Onion topsets are sold by count only, not by the pound and not by size.

We also offer discounts for schools and nonprofit organizations — just ask :-)

Payment

We use PayPal as our payment system, but you do not need a PayPal account to place an order. When you click an “Add to Cart” button, you will be directed to our secure PayPal shopping cart page. You will see my PayPal account email at the top of the page: tracy@starsunmoon.com.

If you do not have a PayPal account, you may still pay with a credit or debit card. Choose the Checkout option (not “Checkout with PayPal”), then click the “Don’t have a PayPal account?” link to enter your card information.

If you prefer not to pay online, you may also pay by check or money order payable to Tracy Paine. Please include a note describing what you would like to order and mail it to:

Tracy Paine
301 S 10th St.
Garfield, WA 99130

Lost or Delayed Packages

Once a package has been accepted by USPS and is in transit, delivery is the responsibility of the carrier. We are not liable for postal delays, routing errors, or packages marked as delivered by the carrier.

If your package appears to be lost, we recommend contacting USPS first with your tracking number. We are always happy to assist when possible.

Returns and Living Plants

Due to the perishable nature of living plants, we are unable to accept returns. If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and include photos so we can evaluate the situation.

A Note on Timing

Because topsets are living plants and the harvest depends on the season, shipping dates can shift slightly from year to year. September through December is the normal window, but weather and harvest timing may move things a little earlier or later.

When fall arrives, the onions begin their journey — and your topsets are on their way.
